The first Macededonian denar was established on 26 April 1992 to establish the monetary independence of the Republic of North Macedonia.  Violet in color, the Specimen note obverse features Church of Saint Sophia in Ohrid. Its reverse side features male dancers and the Ilinden monument in Kruševo.
